Two Degrees

Company bio

Two Degrees is a new, fast growing social network that creates meaningful relationships by connecting the world through mutual friends. There are no apps or software in existence that we know of that do what we do. Traditional social networks all connect users with friends, or create closed circles that stop at first-degree relationships. These platforms discourage users from connecting with anyone outside of their established network, or even knowing that these individuals exist. Two Degrees does exactly the opposite. Our software connects users with new people that they don't already know--the key is that they share mutual friends. By "introducing" these mutual friends who are geographically close to each other, new relationships will be made. We had 54 students in a fraternity at the University of Tampa download Two Degrees and share it with their peers. The very next day the app was downloaded more than 10,000 times. The day after that we had more than 25,000 new users and ranked Top 50 most downloaded social networking apps in the App Store. This proved our in-app referral program generates mass downloads – very quickly. We are multiplying this model by a factor of 1000 when the app is launched in Fall 2017 for rapid growth at an explosive scale. Two Degrees uses location and social networks to alert users when someone with a friend in common with them is nearby––or someone from the same high school, college, hometown, summer camp, organization--who they do not already know. Our platform holds a patent as a broker for third-party businesses. Starbucks could show their customers who they have mutual friends with in a coffee shop. JetBlue could show passengers at check-in who on their flight they have friends in common with and allow them to switch seats. Uber could allow users to share rides with other Uber users who have a mutual friend or request a driver with mutual friends. AirBnB customers could rent homes more safely knowing they had a mutual friend
