About
I was born and raised in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating top of my class from Aurora High School, I attended the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn I was a member of the lightweight crew team and helped found a student investment club before graduating with honors. I then spent a year backpacking through Europe and the Middle East. Upon my return I attended the Georgetown University Law Center where I was a editor of the American Criminal Law Review\\\'s annual survey and 3L fellow at the Institute of Public Representation, where I represented the public interest before the Federal Communications Commission. After law school, I joined the Business Transactions department of Schulte Roth & Zabel where I my practice included the represenation of hedge and private equity funds in mergers & acquisitions, securities work, distressed debt opportunities, activist investing and general corporate work. My representations included Cerberus Capital Management in their acquisitions of General Motors Acquisition Corp and Chrystler Automotive, the acquisition of Lenox Brands by a group of creditors, the issuance of securities and other securities work for multiple funds and their portfolio companies, and successful investor campaigns for board representation and removal of management. In the summer of 2011 I departed Schulte to form my own firm. The Minton Law Group is a boutique corporate law practice located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. We focus on counseling venture capitalists, angel investors and the startups and emerging businesses they invest in with all their transaction, formation and other corporate needs.
