COVID UPDATE: The government forced my “non-essential” hospitality company to essentially close and I pivoted temporarily to sourcing and selling PPE and medical supplies to Health Care providers, Fortune 500 companies, and government organizations. I was knocked down, but I got right back up (again and again and again) and delivered a haymaker to help bring back the supply chain to our great nation. I am proud to say that WeShield.us has become a vital sourcing channel and supplier for those who aim to keep us safe as well as those who attempt to reopen the world. *** With over 20 years as a successful entrepreneur, investor and advisor in the hospitality and entertainment industries, I am the Founder and CEO of simplevenue, a leader in micro concept entertainment and hospitality venues. Our properties include Sushi by Bou (NYC, NJ, Miami), Sushi Suite (NYC, Miami, Chicago), Sushi by Bae, Sweet Suite, Lost Hours, Hudson Terrace, sideBAR, The Ainsworth, and my other companies include Assure Global d/b/a WeShield, AI Assist, The YEC, Vengo. Investing in employee training and development is a great retention tool to ensure continued growth within your company.
The new year always brings with it the desire to make changes and resolutions that will better both yourself and your company. It can be exciting to look back at all that you've achieved in a year and look ahead to what else you can do in the future. Maybe there are certain projects your team didn't get to that you hope to complete, or goals you didn't quite reach that seem even more achievable now.

Some of the best parts about having a small business are the benefits that it brings to employees: more equity, a hand in the decision-making process and smaller teams, just to name a few. Although the successful growth of your business is something to celebrate, day-one employees may eventually come to miss the small business feeling that they signed on for.
Employees aren’t the only ones who can receive feedback about their performance at work. As a manager or business leader, it’s important to receive feedback from your employees so you can understand how you’re doing and what you need to do to improve. While every manager hopes for positive feedback, they may still receive negative feedback from time to time, and it’s how they respond to that feedback that can really make the difference.
The holiday season is fast approaching, which means it's time for businesses to start planning and executing their marketing strategies for the busiest time of the year. With so much riding on this season, it's not enough to recycle the same old marketing campaigns you've used in years past. Instead, try thinking outside the box and coming up with a fresh, new strategy that will entice and engage consumers throughout the season.
Few people stay in the same exact role at just one company for their entire career. At some point in your professional journey, you'll likely seek out change, whether it's moving up in your organization or finding a job elsewhere.
Turning a poor customer experience around continues to be one of the main struggles customer service professionals face daily. When the service experience goes poorly, a company can risk losing that customer forever.
