Often, the leaders we remember the most are the ones who inspire us to take action or to better ourselves and make an impact. To be inspirational in this way is a goal many leaders dream of achieving, yet it’s not a skill that always seems to come naturally to those who try.
Different people have different comfort levels with risk-taking. Some are willing to jump out of an airplane just for the thrill of the adventure, while others may push themselves by reaching out to make a new friend. When it comes to entrepreneurship, your comfort level with risk may not necessarily prevent you from aspiring to be a business owner, but it can affect your success once you become one.
Convincing your employees to read through pages of dry policy and procedure—especially on a regular basis—is never the easiest of tasks. While documenting your business processes is important for consistency and clarity, this documentation only becomes valuable if your team members actually reference it.
Hiring the right people to join your team is one of the toughest challenges business owners may face. Not only do you want to find someone who believes in your mission, but you also need someone who fits into your company culture and has the necessary skills to succeed.
Creating great content on social media doesn't mean much without a highly engaged and loyal following.
If your team's morale seems a bit lower than usual, acknowledgement and rewards for their hard work can go a long way.
While you may have started your company blog with a wealth of original, valuable content ideas, after a particular length of time in business, you may find your creativity lacking and your blog content suffering with the same old topics and ideas. With so much content already out there on the internet, it can be difficult to constantly generate new ideas that your audience will be interested in reading.
With companies still adjusting to the pandemic-fueled surge in remote and hybrid work environments, many company leaders are struggling to build a cohesive company culture that is inclusive of both their in-office and remote teams. Though their staff may benefit from the flexibility these environments provide, they can also suffer from a lack of community and belonging when separated from their peers.
When it comes to job interviews, many employers are focused on the questions they’ll be asking each candidate and the best way to phrase those questions in order to get the information they need to make a quality decision. However, what many employers may not prepare for are the difficult questions they’ll be asked by the candidates and how they should go about answering them while still shining a positive light on their company.
Maintaining a positive relationship with your clients is important for both your business and theirs. However, there are times when your team and your client may disagree about how a project or initiative is being carried out.
A healthy employee is a happy employee, and many companies that understand this go out of their way to support the health and well-being of their employees by offering employee wellness programs. However, even if a company offers an employee wellness program, its benefits can often go unused by employees. In fact, some studies suggest usage of employee assistance programs is as little as 10%.
When an entrepreneur brings on a business advisor, they often do so with the intention of gaining sound insight and advice—finding that “second opinion” that can help steer their business in the right direction. But, many times, an advisor turns into something more: a true mentor who can offer guidance, support, motivation and understanding when times get tough, as well as the advice needed to help get you back on your feet.
When it comes to brand building, consistency is key. If your brand is humorous and witty one day and then stark and serious the next, or if your logo has a certain look on your product packaging but a completely different look on your website, your customers may struggle to identify who you are and what you stand for—and that can translate into fewer sales and less interest overall.
When it comes to employees taking vacations, it’s all about achieving balance. Too many staff members off at once can cause heavy workloads and stress for the remaining team, but too few staff members taking time off can also mean your team isn’t getting the rest and relaxation they need to do their best work.
