A Minute With Cassandra Sousa, YEC Community Director
1. What does your role as Community Director mean?
As Community Director, my role is, really, to be the voice of the community. I have the pleasure of managing an incredible team that is dedicated to our members. We're the bridge for networking and connecting - we are the first arm of support. Every day, our goal is to ensure member happiness, engagement and to make sure that we provide our members with what they need to succeed. My role is to be an advocate for our members and provide support for our Community Managers to take on projects to move our community forward.
2. What’s your best tip for members to make the most of their community membership?
The best way to make the most of your membership is to share your goals, business challenges, travel plans and more. We help you get connected to members and business services that matter to you, when you need them most. My team is here to make introductions when you are traveling to another city, attending a conference, needing advice or just want to meet up with someone for a drink - we'll curate your experience and match you with members based on your current and future goals. The more we know, the more we can help. Really, think of us part of your team - we are happy to help with anything that might come your way.
3. How have you seen the community help members?
This is a great question — in all honesty, I have have seen our community come together in so many ways. Two members joining forces to start a new business, supporting one another as they get ready for a life-changing presentation or TED talk, aiding with advice when going through a round of funding or a sensitive legal matter. I’ve seen sensitive topics such as how to let your co-founder go, or internal issues around hiring that you're unsure how to solve. I've also seen more personal items like how to balance parenthood while being a leader for your company, or when to know it’s time to turn off your phone and focus on you and your mental and physical health. It’s really the magic in these connections, these serendipitous moments that happen from being part of our organization - an all-inclusive and supportive system.
4. How can members help grow our incredible community?
What better way to help grow the community than by referring someone you know? All of our members are highly successful, know the ins and outs of their industries, and work with, around and alongside other incredible entrepreneurs, business owners and executives. We love seeing our community become continually enriched with people that our members trust and work with.
